What was done?
In the immediate aftermath of the flooding (fall 2017), EFICOR (The Evangelical Fellowship of India Commission on Relief) distributed food and NFI (Non-Food Items) to 500 Musahar families belonging to seven villages (HarajMaistan, HarajImriti, Nandpur, Karmola, Barwa, Khitkahiya and Ajgarwa) in Motihari block of East Champaran District with the support received from Tearfund UK, Tear Australia and World Renew. Thereafter, EFICOR continued planning to distribute to another 1,500 families, covering badly affected Musahar villages of East Champaran and part of Madhubani district of Bihar.
The beneficiaries recieved relief baskets containing the following items:
- rice (25 kg)
- wheat flour (15 kg)
- beaten rice (2 kg)
- pulses (source of protein) (3 kg)
- jaggery ((1 kg)
- edible oil (2L)
- sattu (1 kg)
- salt (1 kg)
- NFI Items (bed sheets, a mosquito net, mats, and a hygiene kit)
