Communities need to have ownership over their own development process. Building and strengthening local organizational capacity is the mainstay of CRWRC's programs.
Some examples of how communities are exhibiting ownership are treadle pump projects and composting latrine projects.

In other programs, congregation-based Diaconal committees are trained to work to alleviate suffering, raise community and church capacity to care for the elderly, widows, and orphans as well as addressing the root causes of the growing number of orphans, that is HIV/AIDs
The CRWRC reports that through the work of their two main partners, there has been significant positive impact at the community level. More than 35,000 adult participants have been involved in development projects that work to integrate agriculture, diaconal training, environmental concerns, health, income generation, and literacy.
The CRWRC continues to encourage biblical thinking that permeates all of life, community, and development through training and ongoing mentoring. Both the restoration of God’s creation and human relationships as well as stewardship are areas of focus in the partner community work.
